I haven't updated my journal in a while, but it hasn't seemed that long.
Working at Torus has made the year go fast and I'm loving my work! Scooby-Doo: First Frights is on shelves now which is awesome. It's the first game I have helped to make. It's a fun game and I'd recommend getting the PS2 version ('cos it's cheaper).

Other news... I'm thinking of uploading my Pokemon comic, one I was working on when I was younger. It's 25 A4 pages long (5x8 cell). I'm not sure how I should upload it; if I should adjust it any way. Or if it's worth uploading?
I will warn people that the first few pages start from when I was 12 (I think!) so they are a little crusty; but the story picks up later on. I am even tempted to make the second chapter that I planned but never got around to. I stopped working on the comic when I was 17.

Well, kind of old news now I have been working there for a month!

I am working for Torus, a video game company in the outskirts of Melbourne I'm a level designer and right now I'm working on a new Scooby-Doo game.
It's so awesome! But it is aimed at a younger audience so don't expect it to be epic (and don't try to compare it to F.E.A.R, which one person commented under the article. No Torus did not make F.E.A.R lol!). I'm gonna talk people into buying it anyway XD
Checkout the screens! I placed that lamp in the first screen hehe.

Other news: I finally got my PSP modded and I'm now addicted to DJ Max! It's kinda DDR cross Guitar Hero type music game with awesome Japanese pop music You can't buy it outside of Asia, so you will probably have to get a PSP modded to experience it. It's awesome!!

1) What was your FIRST video game console?
The Commodore Vic-20 - If a home computer that takes game cartridges counts. I remember playing it when I was 2, I loved the paddle controllers with the huge dials.

2) Name a few games you played on said console.
Pacman, Space Invaders, Helicopter... we had quite a few but sadly it got sold when we cleaned out our junk and I still regret it!

3) Excluding handhelds, how many VG consoles do you own presently?
NES, N64, GameCube, Wii, PS2. I want to get a 360 eventually but you can only get them in kiddie bundle packs atm X(

4) Were you a Street Fighter nut? Any character in particular?
Nah. I wasn't into consoles, I was more of a PC gamer back in the 90s.

5) Do you think Capcom is a FUCKING awesome company
They made Breath of Fire IV so it's a good company I guess ^^

6) Here's the scenario.. You had some friends over and you all ate FRIED CHICKEN! After the meal you all decide to play some video games. As your friend reaches for a controller you notice his/her hands are very "greasy." Are you the type that would insist they wash their hands before pawing the controller, or is it no big deal?
I would hope they wiped their hands on their clothes. Back when I had SSBM on GC setup when friends came over I didn't care so much as we were having so much fun. Chips and multi-player go hand-in-greasy-hand lol. I won't be so carefree with Wii controllers, they feel real really gross when greasy XD

7) What's your favorite RPG/Action RPG? I will allow a second and third fave if you insist.
So many!! But definitely Skies of Arcadia as No1! Space pirates are awesome and the story and adventuring was memorable. I enjoyed its random battles!
No2 - Pokemon counts!? Silver was and still is my favourite and I played so it much I clocked 200+hrs
No3 - Breath of Fire series (but I haven't played 5 yet)

8) Do you prefer 2D games or 3D games?
Depends on the gameplay and visuals and how they work together. I am still a fan of classic 2D DOS games like Jazz Jackrabbit and Commander Keen. To me they never grow old. People shouldn't turn away from old games by visuals alone too.

9) Are you an SNK fan?
Don't care.

10) Are you good at DDR?
I was good at Stepmania on PC but I can't connect my legs in the ' physical realm' (joke) because I am unco.

11) Who wants to kick that dog's ass from Duck Hunt?
I suppose I would if I could ^_^

12) Have you skipped out on important events in life because of video games?
Well I did spend New Years online on Guild Wars back in the day...

13) Do you listen to video game music?
All the time! Mostly RPGs.

14) Have you ever cosplayed a VG character?
I have made a bunny hood but that is the closest I have come.

15) Have you ever been in an arcade playing a fighting game, KICKING ASS, and then some 6 year old asian kid comes in and OWNS YOU??
Naw but I always loose on 2player unless it's a game I can button mash to victory mwahaha!

16) Name three games you would love to see remakes of if it was done properly.
1: Pokemon Gold/Silver (come on they remade red/blue we need the next remake, no more crappy new ones!)
2: Final fantasy VII needs its remake cos I can't stand those blocky ham-fists in the PS1 version >_< It's has stopped me going further! Man PS1/PSX games look so badly out-dated now.
3: I wouldn't mind a remake of some old DOS games like Jill of the Jungle

17) Mario or Sonic?
Mario cos Sonic never inspired me so much, especially with the recent games.

18) When a movie shows up in the theaters, let's use Spider-man as an example, are you likely to buy the GAME version?
Hell no! Back in 2000 I bought my last movie release game, Emperor's New Groove for GBC, and realized with it's repetitive strain music and glitches that; no movie release is ever done properly.

19) What is your LEAST favorite genre of video games? (ex. fighting, sports, shooters, etc.)
Easily sports games; they is no replay value. Do you notice how many sports games are trade-ins at games shops? Why play a sport virtually, I can never understand so I never play them. Unless they are cartoon-ified or the mechanics are changed.

20) Is there a game out there that you feel was unique and didn't get enough love?
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. One of my favourites. It was dark for a Zelda game and had a lot of character depth. So many things play-out in this game from morphing into a Zora to race beavers and calling giants to grab the moon. Also the game has a lot of interesting conspiracy theories on the net ^_^

21) Have you ever verbally abused a game because you couldn't beat one of the levels and/or bosses?
Ah I remember Sword of Mana on GBA pissed me off. I had to read a tonne of lifeless end dialogue then the boss had three annoying-repetitive forms, which I died to because I ran out of healing items; then I realized I had to start way back from the beginning of the dialogue and i couldn't back-track to get more items. I was pissed so I never played it again.

22) Do you own any VG apparel?
One from Myer and one from JayJays.

23) What are your thoughts on the live-action Super Mario Bros movie?
I watched this when I was little and thought it was ok/ freaky, but I haven't seen it again.

24) On that note, what did you think about the live-action Street Fighter movie?
Dunno. I didn't mind the Dead or Alive movie, minus the incest.

25) Who's hottest out of the KOF chicks?
Meh. Let's talk about the guys!

26) Do you say "old-school" a lot when you're having a VG conversation with others?
Just when refering to old titles I guess *shrug*

27) Have you ever lent someone a game and they returned it to you damaged?
No I lend them to people I can rely on.

28) Do you own any imported games?
Plenty.

I'm kinda tired now and I have to start work at 8:30

Eh? Probably some Pokemon.

31) Have you ever cried after you beat a game? If so why?
I don't think so, I'm not so emotional. I did cry when I was little when my dad died in Prince of Persia. That game was so sad, the poor princess!
